This trial is now closed to new participants

Thank you for your interest in this clinical trial. Recruitment for this study has now finished, and we are no longer accepting new participants.

If you’ve already taken part or registered your interest, our team will continue to support you as usual. If you were hoping to join, we understand this may be disappointing — but don’t worry, we regularly run new trials across a range of health conditions.

Please see our current available trials below.

About breast cancer research

Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in the UK, with around 56,000 people diagnosed each year. Outcomes have improved considerably over recent decades, a change attributable in large part to earlier detection and to treatments developed through clinical research.

Why breast cancer research matters

Breast cancer is not a single disease. It comprises several distinct types that behave differently and respond differently, which is why research is highly specific: studies are usually designed around a particular stage, subtype or point in the care pathway rather than the condition in general.

Research in early-stage disease often examines questions of timing and sequencing, and how outcomes can be sustained over the long term. Studies of this kind take years to report, and the standard of care available today reflects trials conducted many years ago.

What taking part usually involves

Cancer studies are conducted alongside your existing care, not instead of it. Your own oncology team remains responsible for your treatment throughout, and any study is discussed with them before it begins.

Eligibility in this area is closely defined and varies considerably between studies. If you are interested in research, the most useful first step is a conversation with your treating clinician, who will know what may be relevant to your particular situation. Taking part is always voluntary, and choosing not to take part will not affect your care in any way.
